Built for her current owners in 2003, Tenacity has sailed from Maine to the Bahamas, Bermuda, and throughout the eastern Caribbean. She is a proven blue water cruiser and is very well equipped for offshore and liveaboard use.
On the homeward leg from Bermuda to Rhode Island in 2006, Tenacity encountered strong gale force winds in the Gulf Stream. Her motion remained comfortable under a double reefed main and staysail despite wave heights of 15-20 feet. After dark, a rogue wave suddenly broke over the first set of spreaders causing a severe knockdown. Tenacity quickly righted herself but damage was done to the mast, boom, running rigging, electronics, dodger and bimini. Her hull and engines were not impacted, and Tenacity brought her crew safely home to Newport, Rhode Island, motor sailing with just a staysail.
The boat subsequently had a major refit by Brewers Cove Haven Marina in Barrington, Rhode Island, the yard where she had originally been commissioned. Tenacity was restored...

A new mast with rod rigging, new boom, new hard dodger, and a new stainless steel handrail were all obtained directly from the factory at Valiant yachts. Most of the electronics were upgraded to new and improved models. All the canvas was replaced and all systems thoroughly tested.
Since 2007, the owners have logged thousands of additional sea miles while continuing to maintain and upgrade the boat. For example the following items were new in 2010: 130% genoa from Quantum sails, five new AGM batteries, new dodger windows and covers, electric macerator pump, LED lights at the masthead, deck and interior, new mainsheet, and new watermaker membranes.
Tenacity has been well cared for and she is now ready to take care of her new owners.
